Our founder, Philip Danforth Armour, began building his American dream in 1867, when he headed out West for the gold rush at the tender age of nineteen. He soon recognized hungry miners’ need for delicious, affordable meats and after success out West, returned to the Midwest and continued to grow the Armour® Meat Packing Company, making it one of America’s most influential and well-known businesses.
